The latest release is from march 13, 2006. It can be downloaded from the third party modules page: modules:bib. Updated documentation is included in the archive.

Please note that the context distribution still contains an old version of the module, so if you update your context, then you will have to re-update the bib module afterwards.

This new release (after more then a year!) features the addition of various new bibliographic styles, local reconfiguration of \cite commands, improved internationalization, some interactivity, and rudimentary support for bibtex databases that use the IEEEtran extensions (bibtex types: electronic, patent, periodical, and standard)

• Some macro expansion problem makes the space before <tex>{ {\it et al.}}</tex> in bibl-ams.tex disappear.

Future plans and ideas.

• improve documentation:
  • the docs can use a facelift
  • the section on creating styles could be extended
• allow a switch in formatting style from author 1 to following authors
• authorstyle, yearstyle (?)
• support indentation of wrapped lines (david)
• interface to citeproc/XBib, MLBibTeX and maybe bibulus (Elena)
• support for humanities and law style citations (ibid. and such)
• support some form of backreferencing to where \cite was done.
• support the bibtex LANGUAGE field (by actually switching languages)
