texmfstart?
Thanks.
* You should be doing all I've added a bit of the installation as root, and therefore it should be in the folder /root, since that is root's home directoryextra explanation. Taco13:00, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
: I didn't read that section on the page, but on OS X for example, root's home is at /var/root (which is not really relevant, since on OS X nobody ever uses that) --pg== lmodern in debian ==
== Can't locate .texmf-var folder ==Hi David,
Thanks for Can you check the answer pg but I did perform the installation as root and looked version number of latin modern in the /root folder but there was no folder named Debian please?It has to be precisely 0.89.3, or some ConTeXt documents will come out wrong.texmfThe cont-varlmt. What zip is separate because the font is this folder supposed to contain exactly? I hope these questions do not seem too stupid for words :)updated as frequently as cont-tmf.zip, but they really are tied together quite closely.
Thanks --Mark PearsonTaco
: sorry Mark for the confusion, my remark was an addition meant for Tacodpkg -l lmodern giveslmodern 0. 92--pg7 scalable PostScript fonts for european chara
Sorry pgCould you, my mistakeplease, my reply was aimed at Taco but I didn't see his signature the first time.give me one or two ConTeXt documents that may come out wrong ?

:MarkNever mind,:If you did I checked and the standard teTeX install as outlined on this page, then, after the texexec --make, the directory /root/newer version should be ok.texmf-var/web2c/ (and its subfolder pdfetex) contains Hans will switch the generated formatsmain distriution over to 0. If this is not 92 for the casenext release as well, then your system simply does not match what I described (and assumed) on this Wiki page. In that case, perhaps we should continue this discussion on the mailing list (easier to have won't take longer than a dialog there)week or so anyway. --[[User:You should check the 'used engineformatpath' message from texexec. used engineformatpath : == Wrong path? ==Hi, in the "code" section # cp -f build/tex/web2c/pdftex `which pdftex` # cp -f build/texk/web2c/rootpdfetex `which pdfetex` # cd build/tex/web2c # cp -f pdftex.pool pdfetex.pool /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/web2c # fmtutil-varsys --refreshI think that in line 1 it should be build/texk/web2c/pdfetex/pdftex ......at least I couldn't find any directory named "tex".
And then I would like to thank the authors of this page for saving my life with these simple and streightforward instructions on installing this, well, complicated software!213.213.136.102 16:17, 16 October 2005 (CEST) * You are right, will fix that right away. Thanks Taco 11:57, 17 October 2005 (CEST) == last stage: making the formats global == the last 2 steps are given as:
# cp -a /root/.texmf-var/web2c/* /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf-var/web2c # texhash
but /root/.texmf-var/web2c/* includes all the other formats as wellgenerated when pdftex/metapost was updated... and the context formats are in /root/.texmf-var/web2c/pdfetex/*, aren't they? so, for me it is not clear if it's enough what to move. shouldn't it be
# mv /root/.texmf-var/web2c/pdfetex /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf-var/web2c # texhash
--Minusf 23:13, 6 March 2006 (CET) == beta == There is a pdftex beta for 1.40 at sarovar.
