The packages in Use the Debian repository mentioned in [[Debian installation]] instructions are not usable backports given in edgy because many dependencies are too old. One solution is to install [http://www.tug.org/texlive/ texlive 2007] independent of the Debian/Ubuntu packaging system. I don't like installing non-packaged applications, if it can at all be avoidedFeisty (7. But I don't see an easy way, short of doing a backport (and that's not so easy04)section.
