I found it safer to put \register command after punctuation e.g.: Mamut.\nickname{Mamut} [P.K.]

It works for me even for entries where the text is long and has wrapped, unlike the pageleft/pageright example below. <pre>\setupregister[index][pagecommand=\wordright]</pre>
