Welcome to the Macintosh! Nowadays it's not a big difference how to use TeX on MacOS or any other Unix.
==Distributions and ToolsMacTeX==The straightforward way to to install ConTeXt on MacOSX at the moment is via the [[http://www.tug.org/mactex/ MacTeX]] distribution. The distribution includes [[http://www.uoregon.edu/~koch/texshop/ TeXShop]], and many many other goodies.

It should work out of ==gwTeX / i-Installer==Before MacTeX, the box, also best way to use ConTeXt on Intel-based Mac. Nevertheless, it has been reported be that you may need to configure the [http://ii2.sourceforge.net/tex engine after installation as reported below-index.html gwTeX] via [http://ii2.sourceforge.net Gerben Wierda's i-Installer] so far. * download [http://ii2.sourceforge.net i-Installer] and check the "known packages"* install the TeXlive tree* install the ConTeXt beta* optionally install XeTeX

Before MacTeX, It includes the best way to use ConTeXt on Mac has been [http://ii2.sourceforge.net/tex-index.html gwTeX] via [http://ii2.sourceforge.net i-Installer] so far. However, it's <bcode>not supported any moretexmfstart</bcode> since January 2007 (which means that you cannot post bug reports or feature requests to the author any more), but ConTeXt updates are still available script and installs both pdfTeX and it works as expected[[XeTeX]] formats automatically.
If you have an older ancient installation, you should replace the teTeX-based variant with TeXLive-based one:
* uninstall both <i>"gwTeX Support: ConTeXt updater"</i> (<code>context-update.ii2</code>) and <i>"DEPRECATED gwTeX based on teTeX"</i> (<code>tex.ii2</code>)
* install <b>"gwTeX based on TeXLive"</b> (<code>texlive.ii2</code>) and <i>"ConTeXt updater"</i> again
The new version now includes ==TeXshop==It should work out of the <code>texmfstart</code> script and installs both pdfTeX and [[XeTeX]] formats automaticallybox, also on Intel-based Mac.Nevertheless, it has been reported that you may need to configure the TeX engine after installation as reported below:
