You can setup the exact behaviour of footnotes with {{cmd|setupnotation|[footnote]}} (MkII: {{cmd|setupfootnotes}}). (The command page for the MkIV version is still missing, refer to the old version; translate location to alternative and conversion to numberconversion.)
